Our Accessibility Vision

At Hive, web accessibility is a fundamental company value. We are dedicated to expanding our infrastructure to ensure that our website (https://www.hive.com), the Hive platform (“platform”), and all future features are inclusive and accessible to individuals with diverse abilities, particularly those who rely on a variety of assistive technologies. Our accessibility roadmap concentrates on two key areas: our platform and our website.

Platform

Hive is committed to creating a platform accessible to all users and compliant with rigorous international accessibility standards, including the WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines. We are working to ensure compatibility with a wide range of assistive technologies, including seamless integration with industry-leading screen readers, magnifiers, and other supportive tools across both Windows and macOS.

Our focus is on creating an inclusive experience for all users. We prioritize keyboard navigation, including features like “skip navigation,” seamless screen reader compatibility, intuitive focus indicators, sufficient color contrast, adaptable theme options, and adjustable font sizes for improved readability.

As part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility, we empower our employees to become accessibility advocates and engage with users of diverse abilities to gather and implement their feedback. By integrating accessibility into our regular development and design processes, we strive to create an environment where everyone can consume content, navigate effortlessly, and complete core workflows on Hive. Our primary goal is to ensure that people of all abilities can fully utilize and benefit from our platform.

Website

The hive.com website is open to the public and does not require signing up. We continuously aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA on our website.

Efforts to Improve User Experience

  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Creating a site that works well with different screen readers, allowing users to consume content in an audio format.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Making all menus, buttons, and forms accessible via keyboard.
  • Text Search: Making the platform searchable through Ctrl/Cmd + F.
  • Skip to Content: Allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive elements at the top of each page with a “Skip to Main Content” link.
  • Images: Applying descriptive alternative text to images and hiding decorative images from screen readers.
  • Headings: Using clear headings to communicate content organization and help screen reader users navigate.
  • Links: Providing descriptive link texts so users can understand their purpose and destination.
  • Use of ARIA: Utilizing Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) to enhance accessibility, particularly for dynamic content and advanced user interfaces.
